Role: Executive Assistant / Office Manager
Reports to: Head of Operations
Wefarm, the world’s largest farmer-to-farmer digital network, enables farmers to connect with one another to solve problems, share ideas and spread innovation. Utilising the latest machine learning technology, Wefarm’s service works both online and over SMS. Knowledge shared on Wefarm can help farmers to produce higher quality product, increase yields, gain insight into market pricing, tackle the effects of climate change, diversify agricultural interests, and much more.
Since its founding in 2015, Wefarm has been named one of Africa’s Most Innovative Companies by FastCompany and has won Google’s Impact Challenge Award, TechCrunch’s Europas-Tech for Good Award, and the European Union Commission’s Ideas from Europe prize, among others. We’ve been covered on CNN, the BBC, Wired, TechCrunch, Forbes, the FT and more. The company is headquartered in London with offices in Nairobi and Kampala.
This role is split into two key areas: supporting the Founder and CEO of Wefarm and taking ownership of our London office space, creating the best working environment to achieve our goals. We are a team of 21 in London, expecting to grow significantly over the next year and we’re looking for someone who is excited about adding value in this role long-term. The ideal candidate will be the ‘glue’ that brings the office together; someone who enjoys making things happen and taking ownership over tasks (no matter how big or small) and thrive in the unpredictable startup environment.
Executive Assistant to CEO and Founder of Wefarm
Arranging frequent travel
Coordinating internal and external meetings, managing CEO’s calendar and booking meeting rooms
Responding to website queries and supporting CEO’s inbox
Filing expenses and organising refunds from external organisations
Coordinating document signing (mostly e-signatures, some postal)
Creating presentations, reports or general research as needed
Investment support (VC research, preparing due diligence investment packs)
Assisting with Board of Directors meetings (documents, room setup)
Other tasks and projects as required
London Office Manager
Maintain London office and meeting rooms, identifying pain-points and proactively fixing them
Day to day office administration e.g. deliveries, stationery, office snacks, filing, manage the London office budget.
IT support: setting up audio-visual equipment for team calls, liaising with suppliers to ensure the team has the equipment they need.
Organise socials, celebrate birthdays and milestones, organise ad hoc events and champion company values and culture
Welcome guests. Onboard new team members.
Coordinate travel when team members come to London
Provide ad hoc support to, and share ideas with East African Office Managers
Health and safety, legals and compliance
(We’re moving office in the next few months so there will be the opportunity to ‘put your stamp’ on making our new space feel like home.)
Experience as an EA to a Senior Director and desire to pursue this as a career
At least 3 years’ experience in a fast paced role and enjoy working hard in a startup.
Organised and self-managing with good prioritisation skills and attention to detail
Passionate about company culture and supporting those around you.
Comfortable using technology, including setting up video conferencing facilities.
